About Us
History
Our story started with the dream of a Ugandan girl in the diaspora that wanted to give back.
- JUNE 2022 - OUR VERY FIRST PROJECT
- NOVEMBER 2022 - THE AGALI AWAMU PROJECT BEGINS
- AUGUST 2023 - GROW TO ABOUT 8 VOLUNTEERS
- NOVEMBER 2023 - FIRST YEAR OF THE AGALI AWAMU PROJECT
“…I know that in the future we will do bigger things but we are trying to start off with helping. We cannot wait till we have a lot to help people, we can always reach out with the little we have…” The quality of grammar in this statement is affected by direct translation of the Luganda dialect, but one understands the gist of it. This is how it all started. We wanted to help. We found a community that we could work with in June of 2022. We then decided we would create a brand, a solid foundation, and a sustainable impact.
December 2022, we decide to go back to the drawing board and add a goal to the work we were doing. We dreamed of a community that was not forever reliant on aid, a community in which the work we did would allow for self-reliance, for self-empowerment, and in turn empower other community hence our vision “An ecosystem of ever-growing, self-reliant, self-empowering, and other-empowering communities”
While we are still trying to lay out certain foundations, we have been able to conduct two projects, had the number of volunteers grow to about 8 people, and impacted a few lives on this short journey.
